Chatham

Chatham had it's beginnings back when the Wisconsin Glacier was melting 20,000 years ago and it left behind Lake Passaic. As the lake continued to recede to the sea, the land that is now Chatham was actually at the bottom of Lake Passaic. Today, Chatham has a charming central business district with both a Borough (2.4 square miles) and Township surrounding it.There are 4 elementary schools that feed into a middle school and high school. The historical society has taken great care to document the towns history and provide many photographs and details which residents can visit within the 4 Trails described on the town website. There is a Farmer's Market every Saturday from June to November off Fairmont Avenue. Homes may have public sewer or septic systems depending on location. Colony pool is available to all residents with a swim team for all ages.
